1 - Charles Bronson

The famous Western star didn’t always ride horses, after his service during WW2 Bronson found himself in and out of many jobs trying to find a career he could stick to. At one point he drove a lorry, but later chose to join a theatre company which led to his success in films like The Dirty Dozen and Once Upon A Time in the West. Maybe consider joining a theatre company if you want to trade freight for fame and become a famous truck driver like Bronson.

2 - James Cameron

The unforgettable director of many classic movies like Terminator 2: Judgement Day, Aliens and Titanic had a bit of a bumpy start, dropping out of his English studies at university he took up becoming a lorry driver but continued to work on scripts and taught himself all about special effects. Eventually, in 1977, after being heavily inspired by Star Wars he quit his job as a lorry driver and used his well-earned cash to buy a camera and (with two friends) created a budget 10-minute science fiction movie. Following the success of his indie movie, he became the production assistant on many sets until he approached directing with Piranha 2 and The Terminator. His films Avatar and Titanic are now the 2 highest-grossing films of all time, both earning over $2 billion at the box office.

3 - Sean Connery

The first (and arguably the best) Bond, the Scottish actor has always been a man of many traits. Before he pursued acting Connery’s jobs included: serving in the Navy, truck driver, a lifeguard at swimming pools, a labourer, an artist’s model, a stage assistant and a coffin polisher. He eventually starred in South Pacific where he also met Michael Caine, the pair eventually became close friends. Just imagine if Sean Connery was one of your truck drivers, he would always deliver!

The National Lampoon star, very much like Connery had many career paths before acting, including a job as a trucker. After he finished med school one of his first job roles was driving an 18-wheeler. 5 - Rock Hudson

The star who eventually became the leading man of many classic rom-coms during the 50s and 60s, Rock also drove trucks during his service in WW2. He also co-starred and was close friends with Elizabeth Taylor. Rock Hudson is one of the most famous truck drivers from the movie industry.

6 - Richard Pryor

Listed by Rolling Stone as one of the top 50 stand-up comedians of all time, inspiring the likes of Eddie Murphy, before he became a successful comedian he had a job as a truck driver, moving loads across the US and Europe. We know many a truck driver who think they are as funny as Richard Pryor, if you think you can cut it as a stand up comedian get yourself to an open mike night. Perhaps you can do a set about the facilities at truck stops, although that is no laughing matter these days.

7 - Viggo Mortenson

Most famous as Aragorn in The Lord of The Rings, considered to be an underrated star in the 90s Mortenson originally returned to Denmark following his education, he took up jobs driving trucks and as a florist. He eventually returned to the United States to pursue a career in acting which lead to an Oscar nomination in 2016 for his role in Captain Fantastic.

8 - Liam Nesson

The star most prominently known for his role as the over-protective father of Taken, as well as his Oscar-nominated role as Oskar Schindler and as the Jedi Qui-Gon Jinn in Star Wars Episode I: The Phantom Menace originally became a fork-lift driver and lorry driver for Guinness (What would you expect of an Irishman?) but he eventually decided it wasn’t for him in the long run and joined the Lyric Players’ Theatre and got his first film role in 1977 with Pilgrim’s Progress. Every truck driver needs a certain set of skills if they want to become a famous trucker.

Otherwise known as the Yorkshire Ripper, Sutcliffe was notorious for a series of 13 murders between 1975 and 1980, eventually he was apprehended on January 2nd 1981. He was given a whole life order, meaning he would never be released from custody. Sutcliffe also had experience as a truck driver, his job gave him much more flexibility allowing him to pick his shifts. Arguably the most infamous truck driver ever.

Star of A Few Good Men alongside Tom Cruise and X-Men: First Class, he originally dropped out of school and took any jobs he could (including a job as a trucker) to financially support his mother and sister. Eventually he discovered his love for acting at aged 20, auditioning and starring in a production of Dracula. This famour truck driver always delivers on performance, with roles in some of the greatest films of all time: To Kill a Mockingbird, Apocalypse Now and The Godfather under his belt the successful actor was once a truck driver while finding his footsteps in acting classes. Among his classmates were: Dustin Hoffman and Gene Hackman, they must've had a great teacher! He also served in the US army.

He was eventually signed by the Philadelphia Eagles, which kicked-off this famous truckers football career.
