The company started with one second hand ERF heavy goods vehicle and one trailer carrying cattle for local agricultural merchants. Also at the time we had a milk processing and retail business, and in the early days we had to deliver milk door to door in the mornings and then take the HGV to Spillers in Birkenhead in the afternoon and load the cattle feed - this was all hand ball on and off the truck.
I then started carrying roofing slates from Penrhyn Quarry in Bethesda all over the UK. This was good work at the time and well paid, and would get return loads from clearing houses in London.
In 1974 I brought my first new truck an ERF A series with a 180 Gardener David Brown Box Kirkstall Axle Trailer.
